When pests move into your home, they don’t just stroll through the front door with a suitcase. They slip in quietly through the small gaps and hidden corners we rarely think about. Here are the top 5 places pests sneak into a home – and what to watch for.

1. Gaps Around Doors & Windows

Tiny spaces under doors, around window frames or between worn weather strips are like open invitations for ants, spiders, cockroaches and mozzies. If you can see light under an exterior door, pests can get in. Check for cracked seals, torn flyscreens and doors that don’t quite close properly.

2. Roof Void, Eaves & Fascia

The roofline is prime real estate for spiders, wasps, birds and rodents. Loose roof tiles, gaps in fascia boards, and openings around cables or pipes give pests easy access into the roof void – and from there, into your walls and ceilings. You might not see them, but you’ll hear scratching, buzzing or notice droppings.

3. Cracks in Walls, Foundations & Weep Holes

Ants, cockroaches and even rodents love cracks in brickwork, expansion joints and gaps around concrete slabs. Weep holes in brick homes are important for ventilation and drainage, but they can also be used as pest highways if left unprotected. Special weep-hole covers can help keep pests out while still letting the house “breathe”.

4. Plumbing, Drains & Under-Sink Areas

Cockroaches, silverfish and even rodents often follow pipework into kitchens, bathrooms and laundries. Gaps around plumbing penetrations under sinks, in cupboards or behind toilets are common entry points. Leaks and damp areas make these spots even more attractive, especially to pests that love moisture.

5. Garages, Sheds & Internal Access Doors

We open and close garage doors all day long – and pests happily wander in. From there, gaps under internal access doors, around roller doors or storage boxes let spiders, rodents and insects make their way into the main house. Cluttered corners and cardboard boxes give them perfect hiding spots.

Regular inspections, sealing gaps and keeping an eye on these sneaky entry points can make a big difference. And if you’re already seeing unwelcome visitors inside? That’s when it’s time to call in a professional pest treatment to evict them properly and protect your home long-term. 🕷️🐜🏡
